Light Art in Artificial Light
Whether artificial light or light art, art needs light. Because the right light accents and dramatizes, it is the stage manager in the staged production. Art provides all spaces with style and atmosphere - and it always reflects the individual taste and personality of its residents. Pictures and sculptures, impressive photographs and valuable collection pieces permanently provide visual experiences and gives the nature of the space.
The sensory element of light belongs to this inseparably. Colours and structures can be recognized in all details only with the right selection of light. GLAMOUR recommends the use only of those lamps and light fixtures which have very good colour reproduction properties so that the identity of art objects is emphasized.
Illumination of Pictures
Special illumination of pictures makes light spots in each living room or corridor with particular pictures or photographs. These lamps are mounted close to the artwork, most often directly above it. Based on the picture format, it is possible to mount these lamps in different sizes. In any case the uniform distribution of light is important, especially in the case of large pictures.
Spotlights
Spotlights are very convenient for private galleries or whole picture walls. The spots are used in a line, according to the room height, in a distance of 1 to 1.5m from the wall - on the ceiling or built into the ceiling. Downlights with asymmetric luminous distribution are highly suitable.
Light Strips and Cable Systems
Halogen light strips or cable systems offer an elegant solution: they are adjustable and this enables setting up each item in changing exhibits in the right light. Variable-connection lamps with different arm lengths and swivelling spotlights direct the viewer's attention and dimmers regulate the required light level.
General rule:
Pictures with dark colours and small colour contrast need a higher intensity of light. Widely shining lamps ensure basic luminosity and small spotlights provide accented light. With longer continuous lighting, shielding filters reduce the UV discolouration. Adjustable masks affect the light depending on the size of the picture so that the margins are sharp.
To prevent shadows, sculptures should not be illuminated only by one emitter. A positive effect is ensured by a second, fill light to the side or below. Exception: objects of ground crystal are best displayed if they are illuminated by a single spotlight source. A brilliant halogen light is the right choice for this purpose.
