Quality of Life Means Quality of Light
My home is my castle. Today, this is as topical as never before. Sociologists have a special term for this "old/new" trend of becoming withdrawn, within four walls: Cocooning. Rest, relaxation and a feeling of well-being at home. In your own individual world. The right light plays an important role in this. We perceive our environment 80% through our eyes. Modern lighting technology supports these various visual tasks optimally by means of individual lighting concepts. It is important to differentiate between a lamp and a bulb. While a bulb is a source of artificial light, a lamp is a complete lighting unit, which protects bulbs, distributes and regulates light.
The quality of light is the result of perfect symbiosis of a lamp and a light fixture. The extended GLAMOUR collection with more than 2,000 various models in combination with proper bulbs retains individual lighting creativity and broad room for ideas - for each style and situation. A sophisticated lighting project guarantees sufficient light for each visual task and top comfort for a variety of home concepts. From romantic glows at a Candlelight Dinner to nonglare light for Internet surfing.
And vice versa: Poor or misused light interferes with visual feelings and causes mental and physical disturbances like headaches or depressions. A particularly disturbing element is the direct glare of bright light from uncovered bulbs or badly arranged lamps.
Bulbs
Not all lamps are as universal as commonly used bulbs. They are available as incandescent or opaque, diffuse warm white light, have very good colour reproduction and are controllable. They are used in wattages from 15W to 300W and have a lamp life of about 1,000 hours.
Halogen Bulbs
In a variety of shapes and efficiencies, halogen bulbs provide a slightly whiter but still warm white brilliant light and are characterized by very good colour reproduction and extremely focused light with high reflectance. We differentiate between halogen bulbs for line voltage and low-voltage halogen bulbs, which operate with front-end transformers. Halogen bulbs achieve a higher luminous efficiency of the light source and have a lamp life about 3,000 hours longer than that of normal bulbs.
Fluorescent Lamps
In comparison to halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps emit light into a wide area. At a high specific output of a light source and its lamp life, they require a primary device for operation. They are characterized by a high specific output of a source of light and approximately 8,000 hours of lamp life - unless they are switched on and off very often. Due to their slight mercury content, they must be disposed of separately.
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)
As an economic alternative to bulbs, fluorescent lamps require up to 80% less input power for the same luminous intensity, and they convince with their ten times higher lamp life of 10,000 hours. "Compact fluorescent lamps" are available in all three light colours - and under special prerequisites, they are even adjustable. They are suitable especially for permanent lighting.
Despite the newest technologies and highest aesthetic demands, the medium of light should in any case preserve its mysticism, fascination and vitality - preferably in combination with the GLAMOUR collection fantasy line.
