The obligatory glance into a mirror should produce pleasure. A good appearance needs good light as well. If the lighting is bad, your morning trip to the bathroom may often become a horror. On average, two out of three bathrooms have poor lighting. This is all the more surprising when we remember that most people take note of their appearance.
In general, favourite ceiling spotlights do not have to be in the bathroom at all. They show and emphasize all defects such as wrinkles, shadows or skin problems. Oriented light in a strip reshapes objects and takes away everything we do not want to see. A pleasant mixture of direrct and distributed light, as used in photo sessions and actors' dressing rooms, allow each face to glow in the best light. Follow the light in good conscience and treat yourself to front lighting in the mirror area. For lighting the face and body from many different directions, lights arranged on both sides of the mirror are recommended.
The most convenient is always an old, good lightbulb, which convinces by colour reproduction and quality of light. It brings out the best colour of the face - without glare. On the other hand, energy saving solutions with a slightly reduced reproduction of colour are provided by compact fluorescent lamps and energy-saving lamps. The size of your bathroom also plays an important role for light design. While small and medium-sized bathrooms may be staged with the help of the proper lighting of the mirror, in bigger spaces it is necessary to add light sources. For example, there are lamps of milk glass, which distribute dispersed light onto larger surfaces.
For electrical systems in sanitary units, it is necessary to maintain special instructions. If water is near, especially from the shower and bath, it is necessary to use only lights with protection against sprayed water.
